About me

My name is Nataliia Berezniak — an artist from Ukraine who found her voice through painting in Munich.

My work explores what people call ‘home’. Is it the country and culture we come from? Memories of childhood? The place where I live every day and to which I give my warmth? Or is it what I carry within me and take with me wherever I am right now?

For me, each series offers a distinct perspective on this question. In my current series, created after I moved to Munich, Bavarian imagery intertwines with my Ukrainian experience: the ‘Motherland’ monument in Kyiv is reflected in the water beneath the illuminated ‘Bavaria’ statue. In the next series, I explore the sense of ‘home’ from my childhood: how it continues to live on in my body and memory, even when the places themselves are no longer nearby.

I work in oils, and my exploration unfolds step by step. I’m not interested in the answer itself, but in how and where I can find it.

Today, I am a member of art associations in Ottobrunn, run painting workshops and take part in group exhibitions in Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy. My works explore the concept of ‘home’ – whether it can be found between the past and the present, between how I once perceived it and what I associate with it now.
