“Siegestor”. A gift of friendship from the Ukrainian community to the Bavarian Parliament

A history that unites two nations

On February 6, 2026, the Ukrainian community in Munich presented this painting to the Bavarian Parliament as a symbol of deep gratitude for supporting Ukraine during the most difficult times in our history.

Munich’s Victory Gate, created in the 19th century as a monument to peace, has taken on new meaning today — it serves as a reminder of our shared values of freedom, democracy, and unwavering faith in the victory of good over evil.

Victory Gate, Munich

The artwork was featured in the exhibition “Thirty Artists” in 2025 (Ottobrunn, Munich district), took third place in the audience vote, and was published in the magazine “My Ottobrunn” in January 2026.

At the Victory Gate (Siegestor), where the fourth angel should be, an angel appears with a trident in his hands. This work is about waiting, about incompleteness. It is a visualization of hope, a symbol of a victory that is yet to come.

About the painting

Title: Victory Gate / Siegestor
Year: 2025
Technique: Oil on canvas + gold leaf
Size: 80×60 cm
Series: “Golden Threads of Memory: Bavaria Through the Eyes of a Ukrainian”
In this work, I depict one of Munich’s most famous architectural landmarks, the Victory Gate (Siegestor), through the prism of Ukrainian experience. The painting belongs to my “Golden series”, where each work contains a hidden riddle or a non-existent detail.

The mystery of this painting:

In reality, one of the angels is missing from the columns of the Victory Gate. In my interpretation, this angel appears — and not just like that, but with a trident in his hands.

This painting is a symbol of friendship between nations, faith in victory, and shared values that unite Ukraine and Bavaria.

About the series “Golden Threads of Memory”

After the full-scale war began in 2022, I moved to Munich. Every street, every building, every landscape reminded me of Ukraine — and this series was born.

Special feature of the series:

Each work contains a hidden riddle or a non-existent detail — a mystical element that connects Bavaria and Ukraine. The gold in my works is the light that I carry within me. It is the memory of home that is always with me, even thousands of kilometers away.
Ten works in which Bavarian exteriors quietly echo Ukrainian images.
Each painting is a quiet dialogue with the homeland that I carry in my heart.
